GIS TECHNICIAN
Geomap® Company, a geologic mapping service company, currently has a position available in its Plano, Texas office. Primary responsibilities shall be to assist the GIS department in the update of oil and gas mapping information and data. Duties may also include digitizing and posting information to maps and/or data bases. Experience or familiarity with oil and gas terminology, ArcMap and SDE databases is a plus but not a requirement. Some GIS experience or the equivalent college level courses is required.
Qualifications
Completion of some college level geology, earth science or GIS courses or the equivalent practical experience.
Dependable and results oriented.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft software.
Ability to manage databases, edit/update records, and perform basic database queries.
Requirements
Basic understanding of principles and methodologies associated with GIS technology.
Exceptional organizational and communication (oral and written) skills.
Self-motivated, while able to work as a part of a team.
Meticulous eye for detail and the ability to ask questions when unsure.
High level of accuracy.
Strong ability to multi-task and interface with multiple departments and data users.
Key Responsibilities
Perform technical duties in the maintenance, development and operation of geographic information systems.
Create, maintain and edit oil and gas maps using several different versions of ESRI software.
Ensure the quality and accuracy of a variety of GIS data, including researching and revising maps and data from other data systems. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
