North Arkansas's Fayetteville Shale is an unconventional gas reservoir, ranging in depth from 1500 feet to 6500 feet. The Fayetteville Shale is Mississippian in age and is the geologic equivalent to the Caney Shale in Oklahoma and the Barnett Shale in North Texas. Approximately 20 vertical tests have been completed with flow rates Ranging between 200 MCFGPD and 1,000 MCFGPD. The first horizontal completion initially flowed at the rate of 3,700 MCFGPD. This play is in its infancy and is potentially another Barnett Shale Play in the making.
Geomap® can provide the tools needed to assess this emerging play. Our new map service provides an Isopach of the productive Fayetteville Shale unit, identifies all Fayetteville Shale penetrations, and identifies all Fayetteville Shale producers. It also provides initial potential rates for all Fayetteville producers, highlights all Fayetteville Shale drilling activity, and indicates approximate geographical limits for the Fayetteville shale. Other components will be added as the play develops.
