YOUR GUIDE TO THE SUBSURFACE
HACKBERRY UNCONFORMITY

The structure of the updip Hackberry Unconformity (Middle Frio) in Southwest Louisiana is composed of two surfaces. The unconformity was originally a tilted planar surface. A channelization process of repeated slumping in a headward direction then occurred creating dip-trending channels. The slumped pre-Hackberry sediments moved down the channels and were redeposited in the channel bottoms or moved further southward into the downdip Hackberry area.
